How To Get Started

Step 1

Place an order for two GL-iNet AXT-1800 routers from Amazon for a single server installation or buy three routers for a two-location server deployment. Two server location deployments will require additional time beyond the standard 2-hour Virtual Installation Session.

Step 2

Purchase the Work With No Borders Bundle or book your virtual installation session directly from the calendar. Please note that the session covers installation, testing, and initial training and typically lasts up to 2 hours. If more time is required to complete your deployment, you will receive guidance and consultation on the best way forward. Additional time will be billed at an hourly rate of $150.00 or a fraction thereof.

Step 3

Join the global support community and learn best practices from other users around the world. The virtual installation service includes a 30-day trial. Afterwards, the cost is $10.00 per month, and you can cancel at any time.

FAQs

What is the speed of a Personal VPN?

The speed of your VPN connection will be limited by the slower of the download and upload speeds at both ends of the connection. For instance, if your ISP in the USA offers a download speed of 1000 Mbps and an upload speed of 35 Mbps, and your ISP in Mexico provides a download speed of 750 Mbps and an upload speed of 250 Mbps, your Personal VPN will have a maximum speed of 35 Mbps

How much speed is recommended?

Many clients are happy with a minimum speed of 25 Mbs Upload. Spectrum internet has some of the slowest upload speeds.

How is a Personal VPN different from other VPN services?

You own the equipment so there is no monthly fee for the VPN network just the one time expense of purchasing the equipment and installation. This solution also provides an IP address that is not shared with any other user and does not appear in the database of known VPN service Networks.

What is the downside to this solution?

This solution relies on a point-to-point connection, which means it has a single point of failure. If one end of the connection experiences a power outage or an internet outage, the entire connection can be disrupted. To mitigate this risk, a recommended best practice is to deploy multiple personal VPN servers. This redundancy helps ensure that if one server fails, the connection can automatically switch to a backup server, minimizing downtime and improving overall reliability
